Earthquake eathquake

It’s been a while since I last posted an entry in this site. It’s not because I ran out of topic to discuss. It’s just that 24 hours seems very short to do so many things. For the past weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of things in the office. UAT season proves to be the busiest period in the software development cycle. But it doesn’t mean I stay late in the office. I usually go home at around 6P.M. You may think it is very early for an IT guy to go home at that time. Well, think again. For my case, I still have to prepare my dinner. Sometimes when I prepare my food at night, I find myself shaking due to hunger. It also triggers terrible headache. By the time I finish cooking, I’m already exhausted and the food is no longer that appealing.

Another possible cause of too much exhaustion is my lack of sleep.

I got paranoid since the time I experienced a mild earthquake while I was in bed. After that incident, I feel like the building shakes all the time. The feeling is further intensified when I’m walking around the unit or when I move in my bed. I don’t know why I feel this way. Before falling asleep, a lot of what-ifs occupy my mind. What if there’s another earthquake and the condo collapses? What if the intensity is just like the recent earthquake in China? Where should I hide? Do I need to run? Whom do I call? These irritating questions bother me for more or less one hour. Only after that will I be able to fall asleep. And it doesn’t end there. At times, I will suddenly wake up at around 2AM with my heart beating so fast. Blame it again to the earthquake phobia. Hayyy.

And when the clock ticks 7A.M., I still feel very sleepy. But I have to get up and prepare my food for breakfast and lunch. I also need to iron my office clothes. Yes, I don’t iron my clothes all at once during weekends. Maybe I should learn how to do it soon.

Not my usual Monday

Today is quite an extra-ordinary day for me. Aside from being a public holiday (read: rest day), today marks my return to the gym. I’m now more serious is gaining weight (and some mussels if possible. Haha. Naging seafood).

I had one-hour workout together with my personal trainer. It was just the basics. Actually, I know all of the basics already because I had the same training in Fitness First a couple of years ago. But because I’ve been out of the gym for quite a while, I’m again considered a newbie.

Part of the first session is taking my body measurements.I can’t believe that my waistline is already 31 inches. Pretty cool, eh? From something like X, where X is a postive integer, my waist now measures 31 inches. Bravo! And my BMI is comfortably pegged at the middle of the normal range.

And the actual workout began…

And every part of my body was shaking but wasn’t really aching that much.

I just told myself that it will just take some minutes before I hit the sauna room. Nice motivation. Hehe.

To my disappointment, the sauna room was unbelievably hot. It felt like I was in hell’s hell. I can’t even stay there for more than 3minutes. As I recall, the sauna rooms I’ve been into before weren’t as hot as that one.  But anyway,  a nice warm shower relieved the burning sensation.

As of posting, I still don’t feel any body pain. I bet it will manifest tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I hope it will not be that bad.

——————————-

Another thing… I cooked Adobong Manok sa Gata. Got the recipe from a website that features some Filipino dishes. Nakakasawa na kasi ang normal na adobo e. Ayoko na din muna ng menudo. Hehe.

Have I already mentioned that I cleaned my bathroom? It was a tough job making the tiles look their best. After sweating like a dog, the feeling was really satisfying. Though it felt a bit good, I don’t think I will be doing it again soon. Haha.

While trying to post this entry, I felt a mild earthquake. Takot ako. Nasa 16th floor kaya ako. Hay… Naisip ko bigla yong sa China. Thank God nawala agad.

Ten Things : Tagged by Van

So as not to upset Van, I’m doing this meme.

The rules:

a. Each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about themselves.

b. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.

c. At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.

d. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

The facts:

1. During my grade school years, there was a time when I went to my dentist to have 4 or 5 teeth extracted from my swollen gums. But that didn’t freak me out. It was more of “Bring it on!” I can still recall how the anesthesia numbed my whole mouth.

2. In my entire student life (until now), I don’t usually study hard for the not-so-challenging subjects. I only become serious when the subject has a passing rate of less than 50%. For these cases, my goal is to be on top. Pretty egoistic, eh?

3. I have dreamt of becoming an IT executive. But that dream is already fading away. A simple and happy life is all I’m aspiring for now.

4. I hate talking to bigheaded, non-sense people. I’d rather kill myself than to spend a minute with them.

5. I will have a hard time spending a day without internet access. It’s not that I can’t live without it. But it really is a big deal for me.

6. I want to travel the world. My only fear is that when I get to each destination, I will just find myself sleeping in the hotel. Haha.

7. I hate little, red ants.

8. During summer nights, an electric fan focused on my feet is all I need to have a good night sleep.

9. I love to cook but chopping and peeling the ingredients don’t appeal to me that much.

10. Sauna and steam bath rooms are heaven on earth.

The ff are the people I’m tagging: Asereth, Boker, Cami, Carey, Esti, Grace, Jenny, Jeremy, Kel and Renco

Susme

In short, nasita ako.

Haha. Susme. Drama.

My Mom’s New Boyfriend

This movie is about a young man (Henry Durand) who left his mom to pursue his career as an FBI agent. After a couple of years, he went home only to find out that his fat and unattractive mother has become a hot, irresistible chick. Needless to say, her mother has attracted a number of suitors and has been dating a lot of men – one of whom is younger than his only son.

Henry got a surprise for his mom, too. He is engaged to a beautiful girl who is also an FBI agent. His mom is happy more than astonished to hear the good news. Henry’s girl and his mom actually get along together very well.

One time, while the three are strolling in a mall, they met a man who is of the same age group of his mother. Little did they know that this man will turn their lives upside down.

This fun, adventure-filled and totally hilarious movie is really worthy of your precious time. No need to think twice, download a copy now!

The Positive Attitude

As you grow older (or should I say as you grow up), you will realize that you are not in absolute control of anything in the world – not even your own life. Having said that, it is just logical to not put too much pressure on yourself to make things happen. Or if you can’t help setting the bar too high, you should learn the art of forgiving yourself when things don’t work the way you planned them.

It is also worth noting that it is not right to force other people to do what you want. Getting something done by force will not bear sweet fruits. In the long run, those fruits will be considered more of a failure than accomplishment. And you can be sure as hell that it will bring you misery.

Instead, focus on what you can do and how you can improve it. No worries if you are not able to get what you want for as long as you did everything you could possibly do to accomplish it. Also remember not to deprive yourself of second chances. The reason why there are second chances is for you to take advantage of them. Sooner or later, you will wake up realizing that the positive attitude you demonstrated during the dreary times made you a winner.

Cooking ala Pro

Lately, I have been addicted to cooking. Simply thinking of the next dish to cook excites me. Not to mention the joy I feel when I go to the grocery store to buy the precious ingredients. For the past week, I have been experimenting with some tomato-based Filipino dishes like menudo, afritada and giniling. One of these days, I will try to cook gambas – another tomato-based dish.

After days of tomato overload, I took a rest from using the magic red sauce and decided to cook nilaga. And it really tasted good. Believe me.

Next in line are actually seafood dishes. I’m planning to cook steamed lapulapu but I can’t find one in the market. So, I have to come up with a replacement. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It doesn’t make sense

Why replace Mindanao with M’danao when you are able to save only 2 bytes (just a single character since you added an apostrophe)? It just adds confusion to the readers because it is more logical to think that it is a replacement for Maguindanao.

The Petronas

Genki desu ka

I went swimming yesterday afternoon because it was terribly hot. I don’t usually go swimming because I can just stay in my room and sleep. But yesterday was a different case because I had to buy some grocery items in the mall near our condo. I didn’t anticipate that there will be lots of people in the mall. To my surprise, there were so many people just like the usual Sunday rush. And to add to the mess, the temperature outside was soaring. I had to deal with the scorching heat of the sun going to and back from the mall – walking for more or less 300meters.

So, after sorting the grocery items in the kitchen cabinet and the refrigerator, I just pulled out my favorite blue towel and headed to the club house. I was quite disappointed because I saw two people swimming. I wished that there will be no one in the pool that time. I just wanted the pool to be mine so that I can spend some peaceful time. But as I was nearing the pool, I noticed that the two people were actually an old couple. Probably in their 50s. They were very sweet to each other. It was amazing to see both of them swim from one end of the pool to the other.

I gladly opened a conversation with the old man. I asked him how deep the water is. I thought he didn’t understand me. So, I asked him if he is a local. He said he’s Japanese. I impressed him by asking, “Genki desu ka.” “Hai,” he replied. He then tried to tap the floor using his feet to measure the depth of the pool. He was holding his right arm while he was submerged in the water to show its depth. I smiled while he was doing his nice gesture. After that, he asked me if I’m staying in the condo. I said yes. He also confirmed with me If I’m working or studying in Kuala Lumpur. (Do I still look like a college guy? Haha. ) I just told him that I’m already working. I also told him that I’m from the Philippines. He asked me what island. “Manila,” I answered. “Ahh, Manirrra,” he believed. Then, he told me that he stays in Malaysia most of the time. He would only stay in Japan for three months and the rest in KL. It was also nice to know that he has been to the Philippines. He went there with his wife for their honeymoon. They chose Cebu. Imagine that!

Before he and his wife went back to their unit, he even invited me to visit them one time. I just nodded but I don’t know if I will be able to visit them. That time, I was thinking of my favorite Japanese food – oyakodon. Haha.
