Globe Telecom has become overly aggressive in the area of online advertisement. I’ve been seeing their humungous ads in different websites for the past couple of days.
Wrong move.
What they need to do is to improve their crappy core business and not focus on these silly advertisements.
I wanted to have a cup of tea or something but I’m too lazy to go out. This bad headache – probably due to cough - is REALLY spoiling my weekend.
Good thing SkyCable has already installed the cable TV early this afternoon. The sad part is that they failed to install the broadband. They promised me that they’ll install it tomorrow, though.
A week’s worth of laundry is waiting for me. Dammit. Not to mention a pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. How I wish a kind fairy would fix these things for me while I’m asleep.
Globe Broadband really sucks. I guess it’s time for them to shut down their business.
May naghanap sa yahoo ng “handsome korean guys” at napadpad sila sa blog ko. LOL

Here are some pictures from in and around our condo. These are just some of the ok shots out of so many pictures I have taken today. It’s kinda weird because the pictures from the internet which claim to be shot using the same camera as mine look so amazing. I tried taking pictures with the same setting they used but I couldn’t get that one wonderful image. Will try my luck at the beach tomorrow.

Because I will be going to a very nice beach here in Malaysia, I decided to buy a cool point-and-shoot camera. I thought of buying a DSLR but I’m not ready to have one yet. I don’t have the time to learn complicated DSLR stuff. Maybe in the future I’ll get myself one.
With regard to my upcoming beach getaway, I’ve almost finished packing my things. I guess I have put so much time and effort preparing for this one. I think I have everything I will probably need in the beach. The truth is I have made a long checklist in my mind and I’m writing all of them here:
Sun block
Deodorant
Alcohol
Shampoo
Soap
Razor
Vitamins
Lots of Undies
Lots of Boardshorts
Lots of Shirts
Big towel
Small towels
Slippers
Sun glasses
Camera and accessories
Cell phone chargers
<some more here>
I can’t wait to see the sand and the waves. It will be an 8-hour bus ride and unfortunately my beach buddies will be in a different bus. I might just sleep it through the night and wake up when the sun shines on my face.
Will be posting some pictures once I’m back.

The title of this entry is from the series I’m watching for the past month. Haha.
This is a very objective comment. Really. If only I could get hold of an HSBC tele-banker, he/she will surely hear a lot of bad words from me. But all I can hear are tons of advertisements. For goodness’ sake, I’m calling from Kuala Lumpur and what I need is a tele-banker and not some stupid promos. Shit. It’s IDD and that means high cost.
Citibank is far better. And even Metrobank can accept calls promptly. But for the case of HSBC, it’s been always like this. Unreliable. It’s funny how they keep on playing the 24 hours, 7 days a week thing while their customers are waiting in vain to connect to a tele-banker. Stupid.
And you know what I did just to connect to one of their representatives? I chose the option “Report a lost card.” To my surprise, I still had to wait for at least two minutes. And their reason was that they were attending to lots of calls. I just said to the tele-banker that’s not true. When I tried to call in the morning I had to wait for several minutes but still not able to get hold of any of them. Same thing in the afternoon. And they will give me that reason when it’s almost midnight. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Arrrgh.
By the way, the reason why I called is to have the annual fee of my supplementary card reversed. But unfortunately, the cost of my calls is close to the amount of the annual fee. Crazy.
For the past month I’ve been checking the exam results section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer to see if my sister passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). She took the exam last September 28. That is more than a moth ago. And yes, I’m starting to get pissed off. Why should it take that long? How come the result of my brother’s ECE Board Exam last October was released way earlier than the LET. Isn’t it illogical? Are they checking it manually? How pathetic!
On a lighter note, I’ve been thinking of ways on how to make profit out of these Board Exam results. This is how:
I will put up a website with a very simple interface. It will have a banner which says
Get the Board Exam Results by Text Message Alert Sent Directly to Your Cell Phone.
And some details
Why check the newspaper or the internet each day to see if the board exam result is already out? Now you can have it sent directly to your cell phone via text message alerts!
Cell phone service providers include: Smart, Globe, Sun Cellular, TalknText, and Touch Mobile.
Users can enroll their mobile phones together with the board exam code and the name of the examinee they want to check. Once registered, users will receive confirmation. They will need to reply back to validate that they are the same person who transacted online.
Users can also register via cellphone. It would be something like
Type “BRDEXMRSLT Boar Exam Code <space> Examinee” and send to 666.
I’m just not sure if there’s already a service like this in the Philippines.
I’m starting to get bored of my blog theme. I realized that I’m not really a minimalist. Maybe I should get a new one. A lively one…. Bored.
I must say that the 1-Gb flashdrive I got for free two years ago is one of the best flashdrives in the market today. Why? Well, for the simple reason that it survived a tough ordeal last weekend.
You know the small pocket within a pocket of a typical pants? That is where I usually put my precious flashdrive. And last weekend, I forgot to check that small pocket before putting the pants into the washing machine. The funny part is that I only discovered it this morning when I decided to wear the holy pants.
The moment I saw my thumbdrive in that small pocket, I tried to think if there are important files in there. The good news is that I have a backup. Thanks to my portable hard drive.
And when I got to the office, the first thing I did was to plug it into my computer to check if it’s still working. Luckily, it is working perfectly fine. Isn’t that amazing?
Tonight, the sky is clear. No clouds and stars. Only the pale moon is visible. The wind is soft. The temperature is very gentle. Everything feels so perfect.
I’m now comfortably seated here on the floor of the Low Cost Carrier Terminal in Kuala Lumpur. Good thing I was able to hook up to the internet. I’m just waiting for my flight which is scheduled at 1:20AM. Boarding time is 12:50AM. I still have to wait for more or less 40 minutes.
Can’t wait to see a lot of people (and places) in the Philippines.
If you are a consumer who looks for a fast, convenient and efficient way to do your day-to-day banking transactions, online banking might be the one for you.
Online Banking (also known as Internet Banking) allows customers to conduct financial transactions on a secure website operated by their retail or virtual bank, credit union or building society. Online banking solutions have many features and capabilities in common, but traditionally also have some that are application specific. The common features fall broadly into several categories: [1] Transactional (e.g., performing a financial transaction such as an account to account transfer, paying a bill, wire transfer… and applications… apply for a loan, new account, etc.), [2] Non-transactional (e.g., online statements, check links, cobrowsing, chat), [3] Financial Institution Administration and [4] ASP/Hosting Administration. (Online banking. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.)
In the Philippines, a remarkable bank which offers this channel is the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI). The range of services you can take advantage of is innumerable. From viewing real-time balances to transferring funds between your own deposit accounts and the accounts of your family members, friends and even the accounts of Mutual Fund Companies, Cooperative and many others. From paying your bills to reloading your cellphone. From applying for a credit card to applying for an auto or housing loan. Name it, they have it.
In Malaysia, I can say that Maybank is one the leading banks when it comes to Online Banking. Just like the BPI, Maybank has also a wide range of online services. For the Filipino Overseas Workers (OFWs), the most important one is the international Telegraphic Transfer or simply TT. Because the fee is just the same as that of the over-the-counter telegraphic transfer transaction, it is no doubt the most convenient way to remit money to the Philippines.
Truly, banking has been revolutionized by the advent of the Internet. It would not be surprising to see this area progress more. Let’s keep an eye on the next generation of online services that the banking sector will unfold in the next couple of years and enjoy the benefits it has to offer.
It’s funny how we can’t easily forget the things we used to do for years. It’s even funnier to realize that we keep on doing it consciously or unconsciously. Take for example the following:
1. In my new office, I would answer a call by saying “Systems,” + {“Good morning, ” | “Good afternoon” | “Good evening ”}. Systems or Central Systems Asia was the name of my department in my previous company
2. When connecting to a database, I would still find myself issuing a command with parameters I used in my previous company
3. When logging into my development workstation, I would key in my LAN ID which I used in my previous company and will wonder why it is not working
4. Sometimes I go to a non-existent network drive which I think contains the stuff I’m looking for
So, to somewhat pacify these longings, I did something with my laptop.
1. I have created two local drives just like in my previous company. Those are drive C:\ and D:\
2. Under drive D:\, I have there my working environment called wb
3. My login name in my laptop is SECADM which means security administrator
4. My desktop is as cluttered as the desktop of my previous workstation
5. (Still thinking of other things)
On a side note, I’m thinking of buying a new laptop. DELL simply rocks. It’s so hi-tech yet very cheap. But I would probably have to wait for some months. I still need to think. Anyway, my ACER Aspire is still perfectly working after almost two years of serving her master. Take note, it fell from a hook 1.5meters high while I was taking some rest in a first class toilet. I really can’t forget how worried I was that time. Good thing, ACER is so tough. Clap, clap, clap.
Passwords are meant to protect sensitive stuff. Be it accounts in online applications like personal email, online banking, online store, or access to computer facilities like server, development workstation, personal laptop, or even access to mobile phone, ATM, and so many others that naming them is already a waste of time.
So, realizing the importance of generating a well-secured password, I have devised a way on how to come up with a considerably excellent password (based on some acceptable criteria, of course). I have a unique password for each of my account. But I never had any trouble remembering any of them. The secret is my ultimate formula. I use the said formula in coming up with a password which is a function of several parameters which I refuse to mention. Haha.
Okay, so what’s my point? Nothing really. Just wanna share this little geeky thing with all of you.
Being a blogger is not just about creating and posting entries. Part of it is dealing with spam comments. During the first few months, the number is still negligible. But as time passes by, it grows significantly to the point that deleting these irritating comments will eat up your time.
The good news is that there are organizations, like Askimet, that help bloggers do the things they like to do – blog, blog and blog – and spend less or totally no time in dealing with spam.
To take advantage of this plug-in, Mr. Blue Rendition installed it a few weeks ago. And since then, it has already caught some 14 spam comments.
Kinda cool. If you’re a wordpress user and you want to try it, gimme a click!
This post is a “thank you” post for the whole FEEDJIT team for providing easy-to-use, high-performance, and real-time widgets to bloggers, webmasters and the like. I personally like their Live Traffic Feed widget that’s why it took me no time installing it here in my website. You can see it under the section “Live Website Stats” on the right pane.
As of posting there are at least two other blogggers in my blogroll who have already installed the same. So, what are you waiting for? Join the bandwagon now! Click me.
I have installed a Wordpress plugin here in my site called Mowser Wordpress Mobile. This handy plugin can detect mobile phones and redirect to the Mowser homepage.
“Mowser mobilizes the web by taking HTML pages normally viewed on a PC and adapts them so they work on a mobile phone. During this translation process, Mowser converts the page in a predictable, linear manner, details of which can be found on the Mowser Publisher Wiki, and you can follow the official Mowser Blog here as well. In order to ensure that the highest quality and most useful web page is displayed on your mobile phone or device, Mowser may alter images, text formatting and/or certain aspects of web page functionality, or forward to a publisher’s mobile version instead.” (www.mowser.com)
Since I have been using my mobile phone in surfing the internet lately, this plugin is really beneficial to me.
If you would like to install this plugin into your website, simply checkout this link.

You will surely see me every weekend here. Very nice mall. I love shopping at the Supermarket by Cold Storage at The Gardens. Only a few people are buying grocery items there. It’s like Rustan’s in Makati. It’s maybe because of the price. But I’m after the comfort. So forget the cents you will save when you go to Carrefour. Hehe.
I also like the IT World. I feel like buying a new laptop, and a new PDA – Samsung PDA, and a new ipod. Heaven knows how happy I was when I went there. But the truth is I’m not going to buy any of the items above. Hehe. That’s plain luxury.
There are so many restaurants that I want to try there, too. But I don’t have the time yet. So, I’m starting to make a map in my mind of the restaurants that I will be visiting soon. I have a very long list already. And each time I go to this mall, the list just gets longer and longer.
More pics here.
More than a year ago, I purchased an Acer Aspire notebook under an installment plan and got a 1GB flashdrive, a webcam and had its RAM upgraded from 512MB to 1GB all for free. And guess what, tomorrow would be my last payment. Congratulations to me and thanks to Dhey for allowing me to use her BPI credit card that time.

Just last week, I got myself a new digicam. It’s a SONY DSC S700. I think it will be put into use when the summer vacation begins. Hope to post some good photos soon.
